Video Poker is a great combination of instant Slot-like excitement and cerebral Poker-like strategy. It’s a unique thrill, and the sophisticated visitors to Mummys Gold can’t get enough of this thinking player’s adrenaline rush!
It’s best to start with the original version of the game, Jacks or Better, and then to expand and explore the different editions that are available at Mummys Gold. One of the simplest, and a perfect next step on your Video Poker journey, is Deuces Wild.
Deuces Wild 101
Deuces Wild works in almost exactly the same way as Jacks or Better does but, as you might guess from the name, Deuces are Wild in the game. This means that they can stand in for any other cards to create many more paying opportunities, making Deuces Wild one of the most rewarding Video Poker games available. To balance this and keep things more challenging, the lowest-paying hand is 3 of a Kind, rather than a Pair of Jacks or Better.
To start, you’ll bet up to 5 coins and will then be dealt 5 cards. You can choose to keep or exchange as many as you would like to, and then all the cards that you rejected are replaced in a single turn. After that your winnings are calculated, based on what you bet and your final hand of cards.
Strategy for Deuces Wild
The more you play Deuces Wild the more you’ll develop your own skills and tactics, but the pointers below should get you started on the right foot.
- If you get 4 Deuces, hold all 5 cards
- If you get 3 Deuces, hold all 5 cards or exchange the 2 that are not Deuces
- If you get 2 Deuces, exchange the other 3 cards or keep any of the 4 cards to a Royal Flush. If the hand with the 2 Deuces creates a 4 of a Kind hand or better, hold those cards
- With 1 Deuce, keep any 3 of a Kind or better cards and of the 4 cards to a Royal Flush, 4 cards to a Straight Flush, 3 cards to a Royal Flush or 3 cards to a Straight Flush if the other 2 cards are suited connectors. Otherwise, keep the Deuces only
If you have no Deuces, hold the highest-paying hand. However, if you have a known lower-paying hand don’t any of the 4 cards to a Royal Flush. Without Deuces, hold the following:
- Any 3 cards to a Royal Flush
- Any 4 cards to a Straight Flush
- A 4-card Flush
- Any 2 Pair if the Full House pays the same as 4 of a Kind
- A 4-card Straight
- 3 Cards to a Straight Flush
- Any Pair, unless you’re a card shy of a Straight or Flush
Play this version of Video Poker at Mummys Gold Casino and enjoy non-stop actin with every hand!
