Twists in Vegas Downtown Blackjack
As in the Classic Blackjack game, the aim in Vegas Downtown Blackjack is to get a hand total of 21 or as close to this as possible without exceeding it, and to beat the hand of the Dealer at the same time. The face cards carry a value of 10 and the number cards are worth their displayed value, while aces count as 11 or 1 depending on what works better for the rest of the hand.
You and the Dealer each get a hand of 2 cards, and you’ll be able to see 1 of the cards in the Dealer’s hand. Based on the 3 cards you can see you must decide what to do next. The specific moves possible in Vegas Downtown Blackjack are to Hit and get another card, Split up to 3 times and Double Down, getting another card as you double your bet. You’re also allowed to Double Down after Splitting.
The Dealer must Hit on a Soft 17, which will always contain an ace so it can’t Bust, or go above 21. This advantage is negated by the fact that the Dealer has to peek for Blackjack if the face-up card is an ace or a 10, so that you don’t bet and lose excessively.
